Course Content:
This 1 day first aid training course covers the essentials of managing incidents especially if working or involved in activities in remote regions away from immediate assistance. This 1 day (8 hour) course will be continually assessed and after a short examination will result, upon successful completion, in an Outdoor and Survival First Aid certificate in line with HSE requirements – valid for 3 years.
- Roles and responsibilities of the first aider
- Managing incidents
- Basic Life Support (CPR)
- Unconscious casualties
- Extreme temperatures
- Shelter building and Preserving life
- External bleeding
- Shock & minor injuries
- Anaphylaxis
- Bites, stings & sudden poisoning
- Bones, muscles & joints
- Head, spinal & chest injuries
- Burns, scalds & electric shock
- First Aid kits.
Who Should Attend?
This course is important for anyone working or attending activities in the outdoors whether it is part of a group or as individuals. Suitable for anyone interested in managing incidents where immediate help is unavailable such as Forest School leaders, Scouts, foresters, climbers, walkers, mountain bikers or generally people interested in the outdoors.
